Robert Coover published A Public Burning in 1977 about Nixon and the execution of the Rosenbergs, and while it's def a product of its time (the wacky, Barth-esque, Pynchon-esque satires of America) I was surprised that a novel with Nixon as its protagonist portrayed him so sympathetically. The style can be cloying (because it's been done a million times since) but it was worth reading, just out of morbid curiosity

I’ll have to give it try. I’m partial to that wacky sensibility when I’m in the right mood.
